The difference between incandescent and halogen lamps
In our home life, incandescent lamps and halogen lamps are two common light bulbs. Many people easily confuse the two light bulbs. So how to distinguish between incandescent lamps and halogen lamps?
1. The light-emitting principle is different
Incandescent lamps are direct heat illuminators, which are resistive, and are made of tungsten filaments. The interior of the bulb is filled with nitrogen. The light-emitting principle of halogen lamps is ionized light, which belongs to high-pressure lamps. In addition, halogen lamps are also filled with 95% mixed gas and 5% high-purity nitrogen. These gases are inside the bulb, and a halogen-tungsten cycle is established.
2. The appearance is different
Halogen bulbs are generally small in size and high in power, while incandescent bulbs are generally small in power and large in size. The most intuitive difference is that the surface of the halogen lamp is a milky white glass shell, which is filled with some halogen element gases, while the incandescent lamp is just a more common transparent glass shell.
3. Different color temperature and light
Due to the special luminous principle of halogen lamp, halogen lamp will have brighter brightness due to higher temperature in normal operation, which is far more bright than incandescent lamp in brightness and different from incandescent lamp in color temperature and luminous efficiency.
4. Different service life
The principle of the halogen-tungsten cycle of the halogen lamp makes the tungsten on the filament of the halogen lamp not gradually volatilize due to the long use time, and the phenomenon of the bulb turning black will not occur, so the service life is relatively long. Incandescent lamps usually have the problem of blackening of the bulb after a period of use, which affects the overall service life.
5. Different energy saving effects
Although halogen lamps are brighter than incandescent lamps, they are more energy efficient and environmentally friendly than incandescent lamps.
Knowing these points makes it easy to distinguish between incandescent and halogen lamps!
